It is not designed to heat your hot water as the immersion does, it is designed to work alongside it. It will give a gradual heat to the water in your tank (depending on the surplus energy your Solar Panels are producing) and so may need to be boosted by the immersion heater, which you can turn on as you would normally, only with the Eddi installed, you can do it via its interface instead.
Think of a pot of water on a low heat, it will be longer to heat than a kettle, but it will gradually get up to temperature.
With an Eddi installed, you are maximizing the usage of all the electricity produced by the PV system, instead of feeding it back to the grid.

On the morning of the installation the crew arrived on time and ready to work. The work was done quickly, efficiently and very neatly. As I had come to expect from Start Solar the crew were nothing short of excellent.

Start Solar have just completed a 3 day installation of a 10 panel system, comprising the erection of scaffolding, the fitting of the panels to the roof and the electric cabling back to the meter box. In addition, Andrew set up the app on my phone which will show the energy generated by the panels at any time during the day. From the initial survey carried out by Andrew to the installation work carried out by fitting team, the quality of service provided was first class.
